I have had an interesting career (and life), to say the least, but I am never bored, so by that yardstick I am doing something right. When I was younger, I was always fascinated by numbers. I started strong by winning my regional Science Fair with a project titled "Home Field Advantage: Fact or Fiction". I remember spending hours at the library, sifting through historical sports sections from old newspapers to tally the home & away records of baseball teams over the course of several years. Spoiler alert, there's a distinct advantage...

​It seems like so long ago, in my first corporate experience, when I turned a small company's manual Excel processes into a robust analytical foundation, with practically zero prior experience. Now, as a Lead Data Engineer and founder of Arc Analytics, I help organizations of all sizes to cut through the noise. The truth is, many companies still struggle with the basics: messy data, manual reports, and worst-still, resistance to change. As frustrating as it is to admit, the business world is full of useless dashboards, but it was never meant to be that way. There can be real power in dashboarding, and no offense to "Steve in Accounting", but he was never meant to be the Power BI champion for the business!

I've learned that success isn't about flashy tech; it's about building a solid foundation and fostering a culture where data is trusted and used. Overcoming resistance to change is often the biggest hurdle, but seeing teams empowered by clear, reliable analytics makes it worthwhile. It's the really stubborn adopters who make me smile the most. In founding Arc Analytics Group (now almost 1 year later), I can honestly say I have found my true calling.

 

​I have had the absolute pleasure of working with several really intelligent people in my career, and even more in the last 6-12 months, and I am humbled to have had an impact on them in return. I was unsure if I could actually build this company on my own, and as I slowly put the pieces of it all together, I am living what I preach. A slow, steady, and thoughtful approach to anything you endeavor your time towards is the only way to long-term success. So here's to the next few years, it's sure to be anything but boring!
